Sustainable Health and Forests Initiative by ISCI Foundation at Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Dholpur

On December 19, 2022, ISCI Foundation, in collaboration with Jodo India Social Foundation, conducted a unique and impactful program titled Sustainable Health with Sustainable Forests at Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Bada Haider Sahab, Dholpur. The event combined two important themes: menstrual hygiene awareness and environmental sustainability, making it a standout initiative in ISCI Foundation's ongoing community welfare efforts in Gwalior and surrounding areas.

The program included an informative session on menstrual hygiene, led by Dr. Renu Agarwal. She provided essential guidance on menstrual health management, aiming to reduce the stigma around menstruation and promote healthy practices among young girls.

The session was highly interactive, and the girls were encouraged to ask questions and clear any misconceptions. Additionally, reusable sanitary pads were distributed to the participants, emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly and sustainable menstrual products. This initiative not only focused on health but also promoted environmental responsibility by encouraging the use of reusable pads to reduce waste.

In line with the theme of sustainability, the second part of the program involved the making of 7,500 seed balls by the girls, under the guidance of ISCI Foundation volunteers. Seed balls are a simple yet effective way to promote reforestation and combat deforestation. By involving the students in this activity, ISCI Foundation fostered a hands-on approach to environmental conservation while connecting the youth with nature. These seed balls will be dispersed in deforested areas to help regenerate forests in the region, contributing to a greener future.

A total of 250 girls benefited from this holistic program that addressed both personal health and environmental consciousness. The event was expertly coordinated by Siddharth Modi, with invaluable support from volunteer Neeraj, ensuring that both segments of the program ran smoothly and effectively.

This Sustainable Health and Forests Initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 13: Climate Action, by focusing on health education and environmental conservation.

The program stands as a testament to ISCI Foundation's commitment to creating a positive impact on both health and the environment through innovative community-focused initiatives. By addressing issues like menstrual hygiene and deforestation, ISCI Foundation continues to lead as an NGO in Gwalior that prioritizes both human and environmental well-being.
